SUMMARY:Annual Turkey Burn Kayak & SUP Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Paddlers! Let’s go burn off that Turkey – or Tofurkey – or whatever excess calories you consumed on Thanksgiving! Last year was cancelled due to bad weather, but all the years prior have been super fun, warm and calm.\nWith Butcher Jones Recreation Site recently re-opened, we are moving the launch location back to it’s original starting point. (Saguaro Del Norte (Saguaro Marina area) is no longer the meeting area!) We will paddle from Butcher Jones Beach to Bagley Flat Campground (approx 8-miles round trip)\nIt’s an incredibly beautiful time of year to be at the lake. The air temps are still warm and the water is cooling off, but not unbearable yet. Brisk is the best word!\nWe plan to meet at 9ish and then launch around 9:30 AM. The duration will depend on paddle speed, but we should be back to shore in 4-hours +/-.\nBring your own gear or rent a paddleboard or kayak from us for lakeside delivery. Be sure to bring enough sustenance to get you through 10-miles of paddling (board, paddle, leash, PFD, water, electrolytes, healthy and hearty snacks)\nUPDATE #2: BRING A TONTO PASS FOR EACH CAR! I SPOKE TO THE FOREST SERVICE ON THE 24TH AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM FRIDAY WILL BE A TONTO FEE FREE DAY FOR 2020.\nThe paddle is a meet-up and gathering of like-minded paddlers. All paddle crafts are welcome! You will absolutely love it!\n
