Hobie surfboards started out in the garage in 1950, when Hobie decided to apply his love of woodworking to the sport of surfing. Since then, Hobie and the sport of surfing grew together and couple of years later, Hobie opened up the first Southern California’s surf shop in Dana Point. By the mid-1960s, the legendary Hobie Surf Team was setting surf records with the Who’s Who of surfing greats.
