Super Bowl LVII Salt River Clean Up

Help ‘kickoff’ the 2023 Arizona Super Bowl by volunteering to clean up the Lower Salt River!

Super Bowl LVII Green Week Kicks Off with a Clean Up of the Lower Salt River next Saturday, January 21st from 8am to 12pm at Phon D Sutton Recreation Area. We are thrilled to be teaming up with NFL Green, AZ Super Bowl Host Committee 2023, OdySea Aquarium, FORCE BLUE, Verizon, Phoenix Zoo, Arizona Public Service – APS, Footprint, Scottsdale Community College, & the U.S. Forest Service-Tonto National Forest – Mesa Ranger District.

Everyone is welcome, including youth volunteers when they are accompanied and supervised by a parent, guardian, or adult group leader. We would be happy to sign-off on volunteer service hours or provide a certificate of volunteer service.

What to bring:
Please bring a pair of work gloves to protect your hands (if you do not have gloves, we will have some to loan out), a refillable water bottle or hydration pack (we will have water jugs to refill your water container) and snacks.

Other useful items: Trash grabbers, 5-gallon buckets.

Tonto Pass: You do NOT need a Tonto Pass to participate in the cleanup. The parking fee will be waived for this event.

SUP and kayak enthusiasts: This event is paddle friendly! After the general safety briefing please gather at the Natural Restorations Booth for the paddle safety briefing. This is particularly important as there will be SCUBA divers from Force Blue in parts of the river removing invasive apple snails as well as trash. If you would like to secure any paddleboard or kayak rentals for this event, please contact us!
