What types of stand up paddleboards and kayaks can I rent?

We only rent the highest quality, clean and safe paddleboards and kayaks. We’ve partnered with top brands like Glide, Badfish and Red Paddle Co for our paddleboard rentals. We also offer the Hobie Eclipse pedalboard! For kayaks — both hard and inflatable — you can choose from high quality Aquaglide Inflatable Kayaks or Perception Sit-On-Top Kayaks. Our rentals all come with a paddle, leash, personal floatation device, bag and pump (if inflatable).

Do you deliver/transport paddleboards and kayaks to the lake or Salt River?

Yes, we can deliver rentals to the Lower Salt River, Saguaro Lake, Canyon Lake, Roosevelt Lake and Apache Lake. Please call the shop to arrange a delivery in advance. The cost starts at $65 per item with a 10 board/kayak minimum based on availability, location and duration of your adventure. If you do not have a large group, please check our calendar for upcoming beach rentals.

Can I rent a paddleboard at Saguaro Lake or Canyon Lake?

Riverbound Sports offers unique lakeside pickup at both Saguaro Lake and Canyon Lake every summer Saturday. Reserve your board or kayak before Saturday, then meet us on the beach! Your gear will be waiting on the shoreline, and a Riverbound instructor will be there to give you basic instruction and guidance. Riverbound Sports is under permit by Tonto National Forest.

What if I’ve never paddleboarded or kayaked before?

Let us be first to welcome you to this great community! Our knowledgeable employees will provide basic setup and use instruction at our Tempe SUP shop. We’ll also share the rules of the water and safety guidelines.

Do you include safety equipment?

Yes, every standup paddleboard rental comes with a U.S Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device and a leash.

What if I can’t fit my board in my car?

We offer temporary auto racks free of change based on availability. Please let us know ahead of time; this depends on availability.

Where do you recommend I paddleboard?

If you’re looking for a quick trip, you can’t beat Tempe Town Lake just down the street! This is perfect for half-day rentals. We also love Canyon Lake and Saguaro Lake. Chances are we’d see you on the water! For a full list of Arizona paddling day trips, head here.

I’m visiting and there’s a canal next to my Airbnb. Can I paddle in the canal?

No. Definitely not!

Can I rent boards and kayaks for multiple days?

Yes! You’re welcome to pick up your gear the night before for an additional charge. We also offer discounts for vacation and multi-day rentals.

Do I need to fill out a waiver?

Waivers are required for every renter. You’ll receive a link to an electronic waiver when you make a reservation. Repeat renters’ waivers remain in the system for the calendar year so you only need to fill it out once.

Is there an age limit?

Since paddling is a great family activity, we encourage all ages to participate! Small children are best to ride with their parents, but children 10 and older are usually quite proficient in good conditions. Primary renters must be 18 years of age and older. Minors need to be accompanied by an adult.

What happens if I am late with my rental?

If you are unable to return by 5:30 p.m., you’ll be assessed a penalty of $25 per unit plus the cost of lost rentals we’re unable to fulfill as a result. For example, if we are sold out the next day and you cannot return your gear in time, we will assess a $25 fee plus the cost of the lost rental the following day. If you ever feel like you are going to be late, the best course is to let us know right away. Not only do we want to know you are safe, but the sooner we are able to react to a possible shortage, the better.

Are there group discounts?

If you’d like to have a group or corporate event, please call us at 480-463-6686. We can arrange transport and even instruction on-site.

Do you offer lessons?

Absolutely. Learn more about our stand up paddleboard of kayak lessons, which can include rentals, here.

What if I love it?

We knew you would! Riverbound Sports offers a rental credit program; we offer up to $100 of your rental credit to the purchase of a new paddleboard!
