The program is designed for Paddlers to sign up for one, two, or all four workshops being offered. Each workshop has a group limit and depending on registrations, additional classes will be added to accommodate. Grab your board and your friends, partners, kids and join us.

If you don’t have a board yet, or you would like us to bring a board for you, please be sure to secure a rental board at checkout for an additional $25 to use throughout your workshops.

Our goal is to make this event safe, fun, and affordable with certified paddleboard instructors (see bios below). The team is certified through World Paddle Association (WPA); PaddleFit; American Canoe Association (ACA) or a combination of all three. This team is focused to bring the sport of SUP in Arizona to a higher level to grow in the safest and healthiest way possible.

SUP Staff/Instructors

Teri Carlin started SUP with some reluctance in the summer of 2011 when she tried to paddle in Newport Harbor on a dare. By the time summer 2012 came around, the quest to purchase a paddleboard was a priority. By the summer of 2013, she and her husband loved paddleboarding so much, they started a business to share the SUP LIFE with everyone.

Teri has been a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine since 2012 so the natural progression to advance that knowledge into paddleboarding occurred in 2015 where she obtained her WPA, PaddleFit Core, and ACA Instructor Certification. Getting people on the right equipment safely with confidence to make it fun is the priority for the best SUP foundation.

Teri is the co-owner of Riverbound Sports Paddle Co. with her husband in Tempe, Arizona. Riverbound Sports is a full-service speciatly shop offering sales, rentals, workshops and lessons.

Suzi Parmentier: Suzi Parmentier started SUP racing 7 years ago, and since then, fell in love with EVERY aspect of SUP you could squeeze into one’s existence.

Suzi is a nationally certified personal trainer of 18 years, WPA SUP Instructor/Class 2 Trainer, and Hobie SUP Fitness/Adventure Ambassador.

Suzi has strength trained for over 20 years, practices yoga and ran several marathons, where she found with proper training and healthy eating, anyone can perform and feel their absolute best.

She incorporates fitness, diligent mindfulness and SUP wherever she goes. Especially in the beautiful state of Arizona, where 37 different places have been recorded that she paddled on, and she and Husband, Nate, have 33 places to go on their “Arizona Standup Paddle List”.

Deb Condo: My relationship with yoga began while training for triathlons and marathons. I found yoga to be a great cross training tool with swimming, biking and running, and discovered that yoga found its way into all aspects of my life. The discovery of yogic breathing and how to use it to stay calm during training and events helped me to finish five Ironman’s and several marathons. My 200-hour teacher training was completed in Colorado. My 300-hour training is through Yoga Pura in Phoenix, AZ.

I am a registered full time yoga teacher and continuing education provider through Yoga Alliance, a certified personal fitness trainer through the US Air Force, and an active PaddleCore certified coach through PaddleFit®. SUP Yoga instructor at the YMCA locations in Goodyear and El Mirage has been a great way to introduce people into stand up paddleboarding and challenge their yoga practice.

Rob Gibbs accidentally got into SUP at a Sailing Regatta in Long Beach when the house he and all of the crew were staying at on Alamitos Bay had a couple of SUPs stashed on the side of the house. One trip around and through the canals of the neighborhood and he was hooked!

Rob got his PaddleFit Core certification the same time Teri Carlin did in April of 2015 in beautiful Glorietta Bay with the founder of PaddleFit – Brody Welte.

Since then, when there is no wind to race sailboats, Rob has focused on teaching SUP Technique. He is one of the lead instructors for the Tempe Town Lake program, teaching both the Intro to SUP and their Fitness/Technique classes. An all around Waterman, he also teaches sailing for the Arizona Sailing Foundation to adults and youth, and Basic Powerboating for the Arizona Yacht Club.
